Azza Omar

Senior Consultant, Respiratory & General Medicine Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Malaysia Dr. Azza Omar is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Respiratory and General Medicine at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Malaysia. She graduated from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1999 and obtained her Master of Internal Medicine in 2008 before pursuing fellowship training in Respiratory Medicine. Her clinical and research interests include severe asthma, airway diseases, COPD, and lung cancer, with a strong focus on multidisciplinary respiratory care and biologic therapy. She established the multidisciplinary Severe Asthma Clinic at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II in 2018, making the center one of the pioneer severe asthma referral centers in Malaysia. Dr. Azza is actively involved in national respiratory initiatives and was part of the Malaysian “Severe Asthma Working Group,” contributing to the development of educational resources and guidance for establishing severe asthma services nationwide. She also contributes to the development of Malaysian Asthma Guidelines and participated in the 2024 APSR Asthma Position Statement update. She is also recently being appointed as the chair for Malaysia Lung Cancer Guidelines. Beyond clinical practice, she is actively involved in medical education through the Respiratory Fellowship training programme and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Lincoln University College Medical School. She is a frequent invited speaker, chairperson, and faculty member at national and regional respiratory conferences, with multiple academic collaborations and publications in respiratory medicine.
