Susumu Sato, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine and Kyoto University Hospital, Japan. He specializes in respiratory physiology, COPD, pulmonary rehabilitation, and sleep-disordered breathing, with a focus on imaging-based phenotyping and skeletal muscle dysfunction/sarcopenia. His work integrates clinical cohorts and real-world data to advance treatable-traits approaches and patient-centered outcomes. He serves as Head-Elect of the Assembly of Respiratory Structure and Function, Asian Pacific Society of Respirology, and is a Board Director of the GOLD Japan Committee.
