Kang-Mo Gu, MD, PhD Dr. Kang-Mo Gu is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pulmonary and Allergy Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, at Chung-Ang University Hospital, Seoul, Republic of Korea. He received his MD and PhD from Chung-Ang University and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Chung-Ang University Hospital, followed by a clinical fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Seoul National University Hospital. Dr. Gu is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, and Critical Care Medicine. His clinical and research interests focus on environmental lung diseases, wildfire smoke exposure, air pollution, tuberculosis, COPD, and lung cancer epidemiology. His work integrates nationwide cohort data and environmental exposure assessment to evaluate the impact of climate-related factors on respiratory health outcomes. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including GeoHealth, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, and International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. His recent work as co-corresponding author examined the impact of wildfire smoke on respiratory healthcare utilization in South Korea. Dr. Gu currently serves on multiple national academic committees, including the Korean Academy of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, where he contributes to education and ethics committees. He was awarded the APSR Young Investigator Award (2025) and the Best Reviewer Award from Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases (2025).
