Professor Emeritus Dr. Chong Kin Liam is a senior Respiratory Medicine consultant and practices at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre and UM Specialist Centre, respectively. He chairs the Malaysian Thoracic Society Science and Research Committee and is a member of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology Research Committee. His main area of research interest is in lung cancer therapeutics. Prof. Liam has published extensively and is among the world’s top 2% of the most-cited scientists in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 according to Stanford University with more than 8,000 citations. He was awarded the inaugural World Cancer Day Award by the Lung Cancer Network Malaysia and the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR) Medal in 2025.
