Suthat RungruanghiranyaAssoc. Prof. Dr
Associate Professor Dr.Suthat Rungruanghiranya is an Associate Professor, Department of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Kasetsart University, Thailand. He currently also served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine, and associate dean. In 1995, he received his Doctor of Medicine with First-Degree Honors from Chiang Mai University. Subsequently, he pursued his residency in Internal Medicine at Geroge Washington University, DC, and a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Miami, Florida from 2000 to 2003. Associate Professor Rungruanghiranya is a member of several professional organizations, including the Medical Association of Thailand, Royal College of Physicians of Thailand, and he is currently also the President of Thai Society of Critical Care Medicine. Over the years, he has received recognition for his contributions in tobacco control, respiratory health and critical care in the country, including WHO World No Tobacco Day Award by WHO in 2010, Distinguished Young Internist Award from Royal College of Physicians of Thailand in 2014, Outstanding Medical Alumni Award from Chiang Mai University Medical Alumni Association in 2016, Outstanding Civil Officer by the Royal Thai Government in 2017, APSR-Clean Air Research Award 2025 as well as Masterly Fellow of Royal College of Physician of Thailand (MFRCPT) in 2025. Associate Professor S.Rungruanghiranya is actively engaged in research & academic works, and he has contributed to numerous international journal publications and book chapters. Notably, he has led key research projects in smoking cessation, COPD, and sepsis. He is also an editor-in chief of several books and journals in tobacco control & critical care medicine in Thailand.
